My episode of UTI

So this is what happened to me last Sunday.

I woke up late and rushed through lunch and forgot to drink water. I had chicken soup for lunch and thought it was enough la. Normally I have a glass of water once I woke up but that day I was rushing. We had quite a busy day ahead of us from picking up the bf's sister from airport, buying grocery with his mom and visiting his grandparents.

Then the super hot weather also not helping. I suddenly feel the pain ermmm down there. It was not exactly pain la but more like discomfort and had the urge to pee but no pee or very little pee came out. Sorry ar, this is a little too tmi.

So I've concluded that it must be because of my lack of water consuming and my body was dehydrated. To make up for it, I've downed lots of water. The urge to pee came even more frequently and it was really really uncomfortable down there when I was peeing.

I thought nothing of it and continued to drink as much as I can. Then Monday morning I woke up with abdominal pain and the same discomfort down there. It didn't matter how much fluids I was drinking. going to the toilet was a pain in the ass.

I got curious and Googled UTI symptoms since I know some people who had it before. I've got:

- Burning sensation when peeing
- Frequent urge to pee but very little urine
- Abdominal pain

Then that afternoon, I had blood in my urine wtf. That was when I was 90% confirm that I have UTI. Went to the doctor after work and they took my urine test.

And yes, I got UTI or more specifically cystitis. Got prescribed antibiotic and now everything is slowly getting better. No more blood in urine, no more abdominal pain and less discomfort down there.

I'm so grateful that this is just a minor infection. So ladies, listen up. Never took your health for granted. Always always take good care of your body and hygiene. After this episode, I am really anal about cleanliness, been washing my hand multiple times per day and really take care of my lady part.

Nutri Juice detox

This is a very long overdue post. I know, it's my laziness that got in the way of my writing. That's why I have zero entry in October. But I have my reason. I update my daily life snippet in my Dayre because it is so much more convenience. Anyway, back to the topic of my post today. I'm very into healthy lifestyle as of late. I figure if I'm too lazy to work out, the very least that I should do is watching my diet. That's how I got into juicing in the first place.

Every weekend I would buy fruits in bulk for juicing. I would wash and cut my fruits and juice it into bottles. Since I make my juice fresh, I can't make in bulk. Normally, I prepare 2-4 bottles for 2 days worth of juice. Then I have to repeat the same process after 2 days. Enjoyable? Yes, for the first few times. But after awhile, I got tired because I have to clean the kitchen and the juicer.

Lucky for me, my friend Sara started her healthy juice business called Nutri Juice. It is like the universe is listening to my plight. I was so happy when she started Nutri Juice because that means that I now can have my juice fresh and deliver to me with just a few text messages.

Got my fresh juices delivered to my house for my detox.

Nutri Juice offers an affordable daily cleanse program which is what I chose. I decided to try detox on weekend because it is easier for me.

These are the juices that I chose. I can't decide which one is my favorite, it's a tie between Super Yellow and Summer Orange Glow.

Taking my first sip of The Healing Son which is their new juice menu. It's a mix of papaya and raw veggies. This one is super filling and I felt full for the whole day.

On to my second bottle of day

The third one

The forth one

The fifth one

No photo for Green Punch because I gulped it down too fast. I was hungry, guys. Anyway, I'm really happy with my detox day. It really does help my bowel movement because everything went down smoothly hahahhaa.

I think for you to see the obvious result of detox, you have to do it for at least 3 consecutive days and strictly no solid food. So, if any of you interested to try cold pressed juice, feel free to contact Nutri Juice and share your experience with me.

Healthy lifestyle and new hobby

This post has been sitting in my draft for quite some time because I want to finish my Bali post. I still have one or two more posts on Bali but I wanted to blog about what I have been up to lately. I was browsing the internet one day and randomly Googled cold pressed juice after seeing so many posts of cold presses juices in Instagram.

So, that's how I joined the healthy juice bandwagon. I'm not ashamed to admit that I started to do my own juicing because the color of the juice and the cute glass bottles. It is so cute and Instagram-worthy. But the icing on the cake, it is healthy.

This is my one week of juice supplies. I love pineapple, oranges, green apple, red apple and ginger in my juice. When I first started, I copied the juice recipes from Crazy Vegan Kitchen. I can't believe I didn't start this earlier because it is so easy. Basically, you just mix together fruits that you fancy or if you want a specific health benefits, you can search some recipes online.

My recipes are varies based on what I have in my kitchen or what I can get from the supermarket or Sunday Market (Farmer Market). Sometimes it depends on my budget too because some fruits are crazy expensive.

Oranges, blueberries, apple and beetroot. I only bought beetroot once because I don't like the taste of it.

Leftover beetroot, apple and oranges. Sometimes I use grapefruits which is amazing for weight loss.

My favorite are pineapple, oranges and apples because it taste naturally sweet and refreshing.

This was my first ever juices. From left to right is dragon fruits+apples+oranges, carrot+oranges+ginger and pineapple+oranges+green apple.

This was recently when I was experimenting with other fruits such as blueberry, beet root and strawberry. The verdict, I prefer the cheap fruits one because 1) cheap 2) taste good 3) ingredient easily available.

Since I started juicing, I am suddenly very interested in glass bottles. I have at least 8 glass bottles in different sizes and I got them all at Super Save which is ridiculously cheap at RM2.80 each. Above is my loot sometimes ago and I spotted the cute cupcake case and icing nozzles which started my another hobby.

Which is baking!

The above was my first try. Taste wise it was good but a little too sweet but the icing was super sweet till I had to scrape it all off because eating the cupcake. It was Oreo and chocolate cupcake and the recipe is from CupcakeJemma

Before frosting. It looks rather ugly but really yummy.

If you are a long time reader of my blog, you will know that this is not my first attempt in baking. I baked cupcake with my sister back in 2010 and it is a total failed attempt. You can read it here. This time I followed the recipe closely and with the visual aid from Youtube, I finally  made it. Hahahaha I make it sounds like a big achievement.

It is to me anyway!

Seriously, I'm so happy that my cupcake is a success. Sigh, look at the things that excite me these day. This is what happened when you reach mid twenty. Since the cupcake is a big success, I feel like I'm up for another challenge.

Baking my own white bread loaf!

This recipe is from BakingMad which is my new favorite site. They have thousand of recipes for baking and desserts. I even made my own ice cream from the recipe there.

The white bread loaf was alright. If I left the mixture to rise according to the recipe, I'm sure it will be soft and fluffy. But I was too excited to wait for 4 hours for the yeast to rise. Moral of the story, there is no shortcut in making bread.

My loots from Jaya Grocer in KLIA 2 when I came back from my work trip last month. You can tell that I'm serious about baking when shopping for baking supply is on top of my priority now.

The pre mixed gluten free red velvet cupcake. It came out good but the taste is so bad. Not sure whether it has something to do with the gluten free or not but we don't like it.

I bake almost every weekend but of course not every attempts are success.

Look at my failed Oreo and chocolate cupcake.

I used the same recipe but I didn't pay much attention in mixing the ingredients therefore the catastrophe. Lesson learnt, must pay attention next time.

Continue from my juicing experience, I also started to make overnight oats too. A small step to my healthy lifestyle.

The only downside to healthy eating is the cost of it. My loots above costs me more than RM150 and the fresh produce can only last me for a week. Why so expensive T___T

My overnight oat.

It is super easy to make. Literally less than 5 minutes. Just layer everything and toss it in the fridge, All ready to eat the next day. Ingredients are rolled oat, yogurt (preferable Greek yogurt), milk and fruits. Can use blueberry, strawberry, mango or even dried raisin. Then top it off with chia seeds. Only need to drizzle a bit of honey before consuming.

I love the convenience and been having it most morning. It is more filling than smoothie for me.
Hopefully this healthy eating thing will become my habit in the near future.

Royal Java Spa Experience

Before I went to Bali I've done quite a lot of research including reading blogs and forum and almost every sites mentioned about spa experience in Bali. So it immediately got listed into my To-do list in Bali.

I based my research mostly on TripAdvisor but when I was at Bali, the amount of massage parlor and spa in Kuta overwhelmed me. There are so much to choose from and frankly speaking, some look rather dodgy to me.

In the end, I chose to go my hotel spa. I stayed in Harper Kuta and they have in-house spa.

Breakfast view in the morning

After breakfast, I made appointment for my spa treatment at 11am. There are so much package to choose from depends on what you want for your body. I decided to go with Royal Java because I like the sound of it.

Once I stepped inside the spa, calming music greeted me. It was rather a quiet morning for them which was a plus point for me. I don't like going to busy spa as I feel like the staff cannot concentrate on my treatment and too much noise will definitely break the calm atmosphere.

I was led to the room above for my treatment and told to undress. This is my first time for full body spa treatment, so I'm not sure whether I should take off all of my clothes or keep my undergarment on.

Well, this disposable panty told me to take all off and put in on.

My treatment consists of body scrub, lulur, body massage and more things that I couldn't remember now. Well, this is what happened when I blog about the experience 4 months after. The only remarkable thing that I will definitely remember for the rest of my life is the boob massage.

No kidding guys! The lady literally took off the only cloth that covered my upper body. Her finger slowly dancing on my skin and scrubbing away the dead skin with lulur. Next thing I know her hands were on my boobs happily scrubbing away and massaging.

I was shocked but it happened so fast that I have no idea how to react. I have never been to spa before so I'm not sure if the spa treatment includes boob massage.

Taking my hot bath after the treatment. It felt so good.

My flower tea

When I poured in the honey and stirred the tea, it turned yellow.

See! But it taste so good.

I really love the spa experience except for the boob massage part. My package was IDR300,000.00 if I remember correctly. I would say it worth the try but if I want more pamper treat, I would choose full body massage over spa because it less hassle and no boob massage involve.

Toothache.

Last Monday I felt a slight discomfort in my gum. First I thought it was just the mild toothache that usually came when I ate/drink anything too sweet. The discomfort normally went away after I brush my teeth. Oh boy, how wrong was I. The discomfort grew into pain when the night came.

I had to take a Panadol to ease the pain. First thing that crossed my mind is the nightmare of growing wisdom teeth. I pleaded for it not too be as painful as everyone described. Again, my plead to the Universe left unattended. I woke up in the middle of the night with greater pain and had to resort for another quick remedy, the Panadol.

I woke up the next morning barely able to open my mouth. My face was super swollen and I know there's no escape from the dentist this time. It hurt so bad that I just sat and cried on my bed.

Thank God for the painkiller, the pain subsided and of course no more moody me.
Now the problem is that the antibiotics that my dentist prescribed had side effects on me. He warned me this beforehand but I never had any side effect from antibiotics before so I just shrugged it off.

I was happy that my face no longer swollen and no more pain. Everything was great and I was all smiley until this evening when I was off from work. Here comes the side effects, I felt weak and nausea and vomited.
I guess I have to take the antibiotics back to the dentist and exchange for something milder.
If you're wondering, I was prescribed Beamoxy 250mg and Metronidazle 400mg.

Till now my dentist haven't confirmed whether it is the wisdom teeth or gum infection.
I have an X-ray appointment this Saturday to find out.
Suddenly, the weekend doesn't seems so appealing to me anymore.
Arghhhh.. I'm dreading it.

Rude people need to be taught!

When I was suddenly down with gastric on last Thursday, I thought it was just a normal gastric attack. Popped my gastric pill and I expected the pain to go away. But I was wrong. Around midnight, the pain attacked again and twice the pain before. It felt more like an abdominal pain and I had to lie in fetus position and put pressure on my stomach to ease the pain.

I couldn't freaking sleep all night at all. And this was the first time I experienced such an intense pain that it scared me to be honest. I mean, it could be something worse (touchwood!).  So the next morning, I rushed myself to clinic.

The clinic was packed and it was just 10 mins past 8 in the morning. But there's only one man at the registration counter so I queued up behind him. And then, this Auntie whom just entered the clinic, pretended to talk to the girl behind the counter and she freaking fucking sneaked into my line and cut my queue.

I was in pain and not in the mood to tolerate any stupid old lady whom cut my line. Oh God, sometimes people are really beyond stupid and rude. Queuing up in a line is one basic courtesy. She knew that I was angry as I caught her glancing at me before pretending that she did not cut my line. Her daughter came in after her and they both just blocked me from the counter. So when it was my their turn, I may or may not have said "Bitch" out loud.

I let them got away this time but I will not tolerate this kind of rude people next time. They need to be teach some lesson but of course I do not dare to simply scold people la, scare later kena shoot. You guys know la,  be careful not to step on the wrong foot  in Sibu.

This is what my doc prescript to me.

Turnout it was just a normal gastric attack, nothing much serious but I still got gastric a bit today. I seriously have no idea what went wrong. I do not skipped meal but still occasionally got gastric. I didn't eat any spicy food or sour food also this week. Eat too much also can trigger gastric.

Anyway, I had been watching 2 Broke Girls these two days and I absolutely love it. I love Max wittiness and sarcasms. I kinda inspired to bake cupcake too but I have no oven. I tried baking cupcake before but failed (I blogged about it but too lazy to go through my archive) 2 Broke Girls is a good chill out series but if you can't take sarcasm, then this is not your kind of series.

That's all for now, gotta get back to my series.

Beach Body

I will go to Bangkok with the bestie, Miao this December to visit Sara. Since it will be a week long trip (Omg, I can't wait), we figure we might explore other interesting places besides shopping malls. So, we planned to go Pattaya. Beach, bikini and girlfriends, it's going to be awesome!

The only not so awesome part would be flaunt my bikini with flabby arm and legs pair with muffin top. I have stop working out as much as I was this year. Back in school, I played netball from primary school until secondary school. In Uni, I joined Taekwando and had intensive training weekly. And last year I tried yoga and cardio. But slowly I've stopped going for awhile and only coming back again recently. I'm not saying I was lean and tone but at least my stamina was at a better level than it is now.

But now, even walking up the stairs makes me panting. Last month, I started to run again but I couldn't even finished 2 laps at the stadium. Even the bf left me and run alone in the end. The growing muffin top is another friendly reminder also. It started to worry me seeing how much I have slacked off in working out. If this continues, I never gonna be able to put on a bikini for my upcoming holiday :(

Determined, I've set a Pinterest account today to get some inspirations. One thing leads to another and I Youtube-ing some workout routines.

I think I might going back to yoga. I kinda miss the meditation and the stretching. Maybe I'll add some running time and do more cardio. Planning sound easy but getting started is a another story. But with some goals and motivations, I hope I'll be able to get at least a less flabby and saggy butt.

I only have one month and a half to train for my beach body. I don't believe in diet (eating less this less that) to get the body that I want. It's the toning that I need to work on, not my weight. Besides I love carbs too much to give it up. (Hello fettucine carbonara, pizza, rice and noodles, I love you guys so much!)

So, I'm gonna start slow and pick up the pace bit by bit. Good luck to me. Finger crossed for my determination not to go down the drain.
