Our wedding reception

I was really reluctant to have wedding reception but come to think of it, it means more to our parents than us so a simple reception had to take place. Plus my husband is the first grandson to get married. We're so tired from the morning ceremony and napped till 3pm. I was a bit worried because my MUA was late and I tried to get hold of her but she's not replying my text.

Luckily she showed up at 4.30pm and in one hour, I've got my make up done and ready to leave for the reception. I love the hairdo and make up that she did for me for my reception. I thought such updo was impossible since my hair was short but with lots of pins and hairspray, anything can do.

The first photo prop that we grabbed. Very appropriate indeed.

My siblings and brother's gf are in charge of the backdrop. It was a very last minute decision for me to have backdrop for photo because let's face it, 80% of our guests are relatives and none of them would appreciate the photo taking opportunity (read:old). But then I thought it would be fun to pose with backdrop with my friends and family (read: the young ones). So, the day before the reception, we just bought whatever art deco that we could find and my siblings designed the backdrop while my husband's siblings were doing the photo props. We ended up having so much fun taking photos there after all of our guests left.

With my MIL

With my parents

I ordered my wedding cake from Stella's Bakery based on what I found on Pinterest. I love the simplicity of the cake and each tiered were flavored differently from peanut to blueberry and chocolate. The only downside was that they didn't provide stand for our cake, so it was rather low and you couldn't spot the cake for afar.

It was a fun night of mingling and getting to know new relatives from both side of the family although let's be honest, I already forgot some of them. In a way, I'm glad we have this reception and I'm really grateful for my friends that came all the way from Miri and Bintulu to celebrate with us. Too bad I couldn't spend more time with them. Nowadays the only time that I get to reunite with my Uni friends is when one of us getting married.

Christmas 2015

Just realized that I have not written about my Christmas for 2015 yet. I did updated my Dayre but not on this space yet. So here we go.

My sister and I wanted to go away for the Christmas. Our initial plan was Kuching but cancelled last minute and we decided to drive to Miri and spend the Christmas with my aunt and her family at Brunei instead.

First time driving long journey on my own - checked!

The 6 hours drive was fun because we talked so much. We literally talked for the whole 6 hours about everything. We got lost a little bit at Bintulu when trying to figure out which way is the coastal road to Miri and ended up using the old road. We got lost again when we reached Miri because Waze directed us to the empty old airport runway wtf.

Sneaked out for breakfast at Jackfruit with my aunt while the rest still sleeping

On the actual Christmas day, we prepared some food for buffet like usual.

Grilled chicken salad with no dressing which surprisingly tasted so good

Very simple spread. We had grilled lamb, lettuce to wrap the lamb, mixed veggies, chicken curry and grilled chicken wing done by air fryer. I really want an Air Fryer because it is the magic. You can make any grilled/fried food without even using the oil. So much healthier but still taste as good as the real deal.

Red wine to go with the lamb

Mangoes for dessert. I think I had half of the serving but the mangoes really taste so good. I bought some to bring back home but it was not fully ripe so it did not taste as good.

With my loves

We finished the day by watching Alvin and The Chipmunk 3 at the cinema. Tutong, the town that my aunt stays in has definitely improved a lot. Last time I was there when I was just 13, they have no cinema.

Early dinner at Excapade Sushi, Kelly is still trying to learn to use her chopstick

Shared this ramen with my sister, the broth was good

And my favorite, salmon wrapped asparagus. It did not taste as good as it was before sadly.

Stopped by supermarket to pick up some ingredients because we decided to make curry puff out of the blue. Googled the recipe and quickly grabbed the ingredients because it was past 8 and we wanted to make it that night. My sister and I were leaving early in the next day.

Ingredients for curry puff is simple. Potatoes, sweet potatoes, curry powder, minced meat, onions and wheat flour. But the process of making the puff is very tiring, I kid you not. My arm and wrist were numb the next day from all the rolling.

So much effort for making such a simple curry puff. We spent 3 hours on it, so not worth all the time and energy spent. I think I'll rather buy next time than doing my own.

We had emoji playdoh challenge too. Be the judge and let us know what emojis were we doing and which row is the best.

We also filmed some videos doing challenge and a little vlog but my Window Media Maker is not working and I did tried editing with IMovie but I think I need more time and tutorial. But at least I still have those great memory in my SD card.

My Christmas was simple and spent with my loved ones. It is exactly what Christmas is all about for me. A little trip to see the loved one and spend time bonding. My Hong Kong food post is coming up next. I already spent 2 weeks on it because it is so long since we had so much food.

Stay tune for that one. See you soon!

Weekend in Miri

I don't really like driving for a trip because I always feel like it is not safe but this time we had to choice but to drive to Miri for my sister wedding. Haven't had a road trip that the journey up to 5 hours for 2 years at least, I forgot how much fun it is.

We went with 2 cars, the bf and I in one while my brother and aunts in another. Super convenient when we had car in Miri because we could just take off to anywhere anytime we want. No rushing at all.

5 hours later, we reached our hotel. I couldn't feel my butt ='=

Meeting baby Kelly. She's no longer a baby, how time flies.

With my Baby! I used to spend every school holidays with them.

Since everyone was busy with the preparation for the reception at night, I took them out for lunch at Kenny Rogers. Sorry to say but Kenny Rogers really sucks. Don't know why their food standard can drops this much.

Many selfies ahead because we only meet like once a year.

Since I don't come to Miri often now, I die die also must squeeze some time to meet up with Vero, my uni best friend. If you been reading since I'm in uni, you will know Vero because she's my housemate, coursemate and clubbing mate wtf.

Last time I saw her was last year during Bern's wedding, she was heavily pregnant that time. Now, little Lola is out and I got to meet her for the first time.

Cutie pie Lola. Kelly squeezed in because she got jealous if we hold another baby.

With Vero and Lola! It was a short meeting but at least we're able to update each other on lives and gossiping wtf.

My bf and I went shopping after lunch and somehow got carried away. I blamed Daiso (omg, I really love Miri Daiso because it literally have everything and super neat. I could spend hours in there browsing baking stuff) and computer shops. Dinner started at 6.30pm but we only got back to the hotel at almost 5pm.

Took a quick shower and put on my dress. I need to have my hair and make up done as well.

Race against time so I just had my make up every where. Put my foundation in the bridal suite because I thought that's where they did my hair. Wrong room and moved to my aunt room.

Hair and makeup happening at the same time.

Got everything done in less than 20 minutes but I left my makeup stuff everywhere.

All set and ready. Not bad hor my makeup. I did it myself. *pat self on the back

I even managed to put on fake eyelashes

It was a short weekend in Miri because I left on Saturday to spend a night in Bintulu visiting the bf's sister.
Flat hair don't care wtf

Cheeky Eden. He can speak so well and like an adult now.

And become super clingy too.

Went back to Sibu on Sunday night and picked up Pino. Poor dog got infected with tick while staying at pet boarding shop. Only managed to clear him after two weeks. I'm not going to send him to that shop anymore.

Suzan & Domanic Wedding Reception

So my sister was having her wedding reception in Miri last week. They got engaged back in 2010, which is like the longest engagement ever. 5 years, can you believe it? Wedding has always become my favorite occasion but handling hers that night makes me think twice about having wedding reception.

I was only helping during the reception entrance to maneuver guests to their table and it stressed me badly. It was not an easy job to coordinate people. Some are requesting to change table, some are even thick face enough to bring not only plus one but a plus two and a plus three. Walaooo, this kind of guests really boiled my blood. I can't imagine the stress that the bride had to bear.

All of these incidents make me think twice about having a wedding reception. If it were up to me, I'll skip it. All the stress, arguments and headache are not worth the one night event.

Rant aside, it was a great night. I got to see my relatives and we all having fun despite some hiccups here and there.

Me and Baby ready for our task.

The rest of the crew hahaha

I was surprised with the photo props that prepared by the Hotel because mostly the bride has to prepare it on their own. Too bad the photo booth was slightly secluded, so not many guests are aware of it. Which is also a good news for us because we can hog the booth. hahahha

This one is very apt

Back on duty! Because most of the guests are at least one hour late.

Spotted the bride and groom.

I super love my hair and makeup that night. My hair was done by my aunt's friend and I did my makeup on my own. You know it is a an important day when I bother to put on fake eyelashes. I think this is the same fake eyelashes that I wore on their engagement day. wtf

Hello newlywed!

I like their wedding cake, simple and elegant.

In case you are wondering, the groom was waving to the drone flying above and my sis was ermmm...

Must take lots of selfie because it is good hair+good make up day.

With bride whom I wish all the happiness in the world. May God bless their union with abundant love and happiness.

The sibling trio minus my younger sister whom just started uni and couldn't join us for the night.
