His first time

I brought the bf back to my kampung last January *gasp* It was actually for my grandmother's after burial ceremony. It is one of Iban tradition and as a sign of respect to the deceased. My paternal grandmother passed away on January (3 days before my birthday). After the funeral, we mourned for her for 2 weeks, the standard mourning process normally is one month but we had to cut it short to two weeks because both of my aunts are married to Chinese, so they need to celebrate Chinese New Year.

2 weeks after the mourning period, we had this ceremony to indicate the end of mourning (ngetas ulit) Please don't quote me on this because I myself not so sure about Iban tradition. I'm not the kind that follow tradition unless it is a must (mostly because my parents said so)

Back to this ngetas ulit event, our family members and relatives would came to our long house and the event took at least 2 days 1 night. What did the people do for the whole 2 days 1 night you ask. Well, during the day, the women prepared foods and stuffs for night and the men went to cemetery to properly cement and build the tomb. Then night came and we hired some professional lady to cry recite Iban poem (?) It's more like crying on behalf of the family and wishing grandma happy wherever she was reunited with her late husband and parents at the other side of the world.

So, the bf went back to kampung with me for the weekend. It's kind of a big thing for me because it's means introducing him to my extended relatives. Actually my dad is more excited for him to meet other relatives. Last year he was anticipating the bf to be back for Gawai for us, wtf but the bf was still in uni back then.

Actually this was taken during our last day when waiting for express boat

I told the bf to be open minded beforehand because I was scare he couldn't accept what he's about to face. Hahahaha I made everything sound super scary to him. But I was just afraid everything is too much for him, culture/tradition/custom/lifestyle are very different in long house. Even I sometimes having hard time adjusting.

I have kids plastering themselves to me all the times, especially if you have camera with you. Everyone would want a photo.

They are very helpful and always offer help in term if manual labor.

That is one of the things that I like about long house. The community are very helpful whenever there's occasion/ceremony/festival. So you are not alone as everyone is eager to help. Surprisingly, the bf adapted very well to his new surrounding.Apart from language barrier, everything else was smooth.

But the poor bf been having stye for a week. Hence he's refusing any photos.

Night activities include drinking, chit chatting and gambling.

That was during the first night because the actual ceremony took place on the second night where all the relatives reached. Sadly, I took nil photos because it was a bit inappropriate to snap photos especially when they're paying their respect to my grandma.

I'm so glad the bf clicked with everyone and they seem to like him too. This was a big step for me because I'm opening up part of my world that I myself not quite familiar with to him. Like I've said, I'm not exactly a traditional kind of girl and I only gone back to my kampung once a year for less than a week.

If you're a long time reader, you would probably know that I kinda dread going back. Always whining and complaining and such a drama queen when I'm back at kampung.

And kids love him the most.

Maybe he's naturally good with kids hahaha

Selfie at the wharf while waiting for the express boat

The funny thing about going back to kampung with the bf was it is also my first time going back on my own, my family went back a day earlier. So I have no idea about the places that the express boat would stop along the way to Song. Everytime the express boat stopped, I would urged him to go out and see if we're there yet. At one time, we almost stopped at the wrong place. Lucky I asked around, otherwise....

Queen bee

I have been feeling rather down last week. Maybe it's the combination of dry weather and also my hormone. I don't feel like talking to anybody, I don't feel like go out. All I wanted to do was to tuck myself under my blanket and sleep or read or watch movies.

The person whom have to suffer through all that with me is the bf. We had huge row over something petty and poor boy, doesn't matter what he did, I just find it annoying.

But I snapped myself out of my sorrow and try not letting the hormone taking over me. I tried to use my time productively. I cleaned my wardrobe, packed the clothes that I don't wear anymore, spent more time with family and the bf.

we had birthday dinner for my brother whom turned 20 last Wednesday

ootd
Dress- from long time ago
Flats - I don't remember

Then Danish cried and wanted to be in the photo too, I prefer him with his old hairstyle because this mohawk makes him looks so mature.

Lazy Saturday morning, we just woke up

Danish is like the easiest baby to take care. He didn't cried much, eat when you feed him, love bath time, nap and sleep well. If only all the babies are this easy.

Another cheerful baby, Eden. He's so active and can dance all night long.

Hmm, it seems like my days are revolved around babies these days. This is a true sign of aging because more and more people are popping babies.

Karaoke session on Sunday afternoon

As you can see, the bf is serious about his karaoke, one hand hogging the microphone, another hand hogging the mouse selecting his songs. Yeah, the milk bottle is so out of place and we had baby with us. LOL

Me in my Twenty3 crop top which turned out to be normal top for me #shortpeopleproblem

Pool session at night

My weekend sound so happening hor, went karaoke then went played pool. Hahaha but the truth is I only played one round (not a good player) and left afterward because I couldn't handle the cigarette smoke. The room was so hazy and everyone was puffing cigarette like chimney, including the bf ='=

Wtf it's March already. I don't even know how I passed the first two months of 2014. It feels like I haven't done anything at all. But I just planned some travel plans and really excited about it.

Throwback

I was clearing out photos from my camera and stumbled upon some photos that never see the daylight. So I figure it's time for some throwbacks.

Plus, it's 12.42 am and I just woke up from my nap 3 hours ago. I wonder how am I going to sleep tonight.

Not sure if I've posted this one up because this was what I used on my face everyday last year.

It is so hard to capture a good photo of Pino because he can't just sit still.

The best shot that I could managed for him

With baby Kelly whom refused to look at the camera

I miss my long hair

Taken during CNY eve dinner. We're testing the smile shutter for the camera hence my huge smile

I miss Danish so much

I love this photo. It's like some kind of ad for formula milk hahaha

I'm quite vain but I rarely take any photos these day, be it with camera or phone. I just feel like I couldn't be bother and wanted to live in the moment. Then the moment passed and I have no memory of it. ='=

Reminder to self: Take more photos.

Saving up

I have come to the age where people start to open new chapter in their life, be it engagement, marriage, having kids or simply start investing in property. I'm kinda aware that the clock is ticking and next thing I know, I'm turning 30. Naturally, I know that I'm at the stage where I should know where I'm heading in the next 5 years. Marriage and kid are not on top on my list at the moment but property is.

When I started working 3 years ago, I told my self that I should buying my own property by the age of 25 but a friend of mine said it was impossible unless I joint-venture with my life partner. I brushed her opinion aside.

And now, I take back my words. The property value is flying high like rocket these day. Last week, I went to see a semi-detached double story, a regular size house and the price is RM700K, that's like more than half a million. ='=

That night I started to plan my savings and realized how careless I'm with my spending. I spend whenever I want, though lately I had been really good. But still, I should have save up those Ringgit. I used to record how much I have spent everyday in a little notebook but give up half way. I know someone who did this and thought that these people too frugal. I guess I was wrong.

So, I may have to postpone my over ambitious dream to own a property at the age of 25 but I've learnt my lesson. It is never too late to start saving up or to be frugal. I'm kidding about the latter.

v day

I agree that Valentine's Day is way too commercialized and overrated these day. That's why the bf and I opted to lay low on that day and made our own night special without being pressured into buying overpriced flowers and dining at overpriced cafe. Instead, he wanted to cook at home for us.

The bf is never a romantic man, one thing that I've known long time ago. So I didn't expect much from him even when he said he wanted to cook for me.

He even asked me to put on a nice dress for our dine in dinner

He made my favorite spaghetti carbonara

I gotta say the quiet night in having dinner and just talked felt so nice. We ate our pasta slowly, took many silly selfies in between and joked around. When dinner was over, I thought that's all he had planned.

Turned out, he hand made me card. This gesture is so old school but I really loved it.

Now I know why he insisted of asking me to take my instax along.

But I accidentally smeared his writing in our Polaroid.

Thanks for everything babe!

Oh, if you're wondering, I didn't prepare anything for him. Because Valentine's is not something that we celebrate. Heck, we don't even do anniversary.

He loves me but make up god hates me

Down with sore throat and 3 massive ulcers in my mouth now. I had been downing a lot of Scott's Emulsion to keep my antibody strong but the flu is catching up with me :(

Not in the mood to do anything other than sleeping, so I guess I should update a bit about everyday life recently.

This kid stole my heart

I'm not a kid person before but being surrounding by cuties like Danish I couldn't help but to squeal. Seriously, Danish is such a sweetheart and so easy to take care of. I was babysitting him while he napped last week.

Mr Grumpy waking up

But he became cheerful again when I played Pee-ka-boo with him

I have this very bad luck with makeup last week too. Maybe I've unintended offended the Makeup God or something but every suay-ness that happened last week all related to make up.

First, I dropped my overnight bag which contained my Biore Make Up  Remover Case and my compact powder. Both were shattered. I was upset about the make up remover case because I have been using it for over a year now and I hate to admit it but I have strong grip on sentimental value with inanimate object. As for the compact powder, I have been using it for more than 2 years and I have a new one waiting to be opened. So this is my chance to use the new one. Yay!

Second, I stained my almost brand new dress with foundation while getting ready. Yeah, I'm the idiot that put on their clothes before make up. Who else like this?

I tried to wash off the stain but it is still visible

Next, I've ruined my one and only MAC lipstick when capping it.

Idiot point no. 2 for me

This is what I'm getting ready for, a joint birthday celebration for lil sis and me.

That's it for today. I'm too sleepy to write even though my head swirls with so many thoughts. Verbal diarrhea next time!

CNY 2014

For those whom read my Dayre, sorry this will be another cheat post. I miss my blog so much and feel like a bad mother for abandoning it for so long.

This is my second year celebrating CNY with the bf. Last two years it was spent with friends at a club or yamcha-ing, but now we're going to his grandparents house as one of his family tradition. This is one of the aging syndrome wtf. Family always come first. Disclaimer here, if you think that I'm abandoning my own family on Chinese New Year, you're wrong then. My family, as in my parents and my siblings do not celebrate Chinese New Year as we're not Chinese. However, my immediate families eg. my paternal aunts do celebrate as they're married to Chinese.

CNY eve

I had reunion dinner at the Ngu's and we had steamboat which seems like a popular choice of reunion dinner this year. Yummy!

My helper to 排年货。It's more like I put it in the container and he took it out.

Full after dinner, so it's camho time

My favorite part of CNY is the fireworks when the clock strike 12.

When I was younger, I used to sit on my roof which connects to my balcony outside my room to watch the fireworks. Something just never gets old.

CNY Day 1

Maybe it's the age, maybe it's the environment, somehow I feel so tired on the first day.

Had the traditional red wine chicken soup mian xian to start the day

Kena photobombed wtf

As usual, the first house that we went to was his grandparents place. Then we continued to some of his relatives and parent's friends.

I put on fake eyelashes this year. I have the eyelashes from The Face Shop which I used last two years and it still in good condition. Maybe because I've only used it twice in the span of two years.

And I hate it. I hate putting on fake lashes. It makes my eyelids heavy and uncomfortable.  no more next time.

CNY Day 2

And this is the reason I slept around 3am for the past 3 days. I didn't play but acted as coach to the bf. Not bad what, I helped him win RM60++.

I immediately regretted the decision to stay up that late when I woke up with back pain and throbbing headache. But when the night came, I seemed to forget that and repeated the same circle. I spent CNY Day 2 at my own home nursing my headache. Stupid headache came before noon and I had to sleep it off afrer gulping down Panadol. The original plan for CNY Day 2 was to go to my boss open house.

We planned a very last minute advanced birthday surprise for my lil sis.
I bought some cookies and cake flour just in case if I feel like baking. I also bought custard filling which I thought was the whole custard thing. Only realized it was just the filling when I started making it. #domesticfailed
I swear I'm not pregnant. My shirt stuck at the counter hence the budging stomach.

CNY Day 3
初三was spent visiting open houses with the bf and his secondary school friends. This is my second year joining them so it was less awkward as I sort of know them already.
The only awkward moment was when one of his friend mom giving out ang pow and missed out me.

We went back to the bf house in the afternoon because it was too hot and continued gambling. This time it was blackjack. I bailed because I don't really like blackjack.
Afterward I went visiting with my close friends

Somehow we ended up yamcha-ing at Tanahmas. #CNYfailed

Bff
All of us. I love how bitchy all of us together hahaha

At last, we went back to Sara's place for dinner

Our delicious spread.

And now I'm just finished baking cookies with my cousins. It was a messy job but what else do you expect when you bake with a 2 years old and 12 years old. Nonetheless, our cookies turned out delicious.

I felt so tired by the end of the day but felt like my day well spent despite some little things that upset me. I hope you guys had a great long weekend too.
