Bangkok Day 3

Okay, the continuation of my Bangkok food post. I told you before and I'll tell you again. This trip is all about food. Like you don't know that already, right? My instagram and Wechat was filled with all the food porn. By the way, I bought tourist 3G sim card at 7-11 in Thai so that I can be connected to the virtue world. It was really cheap, around 350-390 baht for 1Gb of data maybe. My advise, don't buy the 50 Baht sim card because you have to top up the credit on your own or else it will keep sending you messages in Thai telling you to top up in order to use the data.

Dinner on Day 2 of our trip. We had Korean cuisine, the famous desserts, street food and all that, so we wanted to try authentic Thai food, not your normal Tomyam Gung or pad thai. So Pupe brought us to this Thai restaurant that I already forgot the  name of it. Sorry! This place served amazing food and some of it is super spicy.

The tomyam gung. The transparent blob that you see is actually collagen. So yeah, we had collagen in our soup hehehe. Beat that.

Sara's friend, Pupe. She's such a sweet and soft spoken girl. We only casually told her we wanted to try authentic Thai food and she really brought us there.

Pork liver and triple layer pork. The triple layer pork is the bombdigidy. So delicious and tender yet still crispy. Now I know why Thai girls have such nice body because their food portion quite small.

Strawberry and mango salad. Sweet and sour combination. This is a great appetizer because it really opens up your appetite.

Half eaten fried rice and pork rib maybe. I can't remember the dish but it is really spicy. Poor Yufen couldn't eat anything else after having this.

Another fried rice. The shredded thingy is actually shredded meat.

After dinner, we went for second round dinner. Yup, second round. Pupe was so sweet and thoughtful, she suggested that we go for Hokkaido Ramen because maybe we're not full enough from dinner.

Us!

Our ramen. We shared a big bowl of ramen because we were quite full actually.

We had gyoza too.

The next day, we had planned to go to King Kong for Japanese Yakiniku. And this is my favorite meal of all. All sorts of meats for us to pick from, they got pork, lamb, beef, salmon, and prawns.

We had all of these and more on the other sides. I'm too paiseh to take too much photos. Oh yeah, times our food 2 because we ordered twice. It's so good and sinful that I felt I ate too much meat during this trip. Felt so guilty yet so satisfying too.

But that doesn't stop me for dessert.

My crepe with frozen fruits but a bit too sweet. We had this at Platinum mall food court.

Mango sticky rice again because we couldn't get enough of it.

We visit Asiatique at night. And meet up with Sara's friend, Lina at The Pizza Company for dinner.

All of us! Lina is so sweet and nice too. And she speak Mandarin too. I personally think she's such a brave girl. She went to Guang Zhou alone to learn Mandarin for 4 months. Tell me, this is brave or not?

After dinner, we explored Asiatiaque and they have so many nice shops. Rows and row of clothes, accessories and souvenirs. It is so much better than Chatuchak, I skipped Chatuchak because we wanted to sleep in. I bought a bag and pants here and it's quite cheap. There are so many other things that I wanted to buy but I was quite broke already.

A photo of all of us before saying goodbye to Lina.

The spectacular Ferris wheel.

The shops at Asiatique are quite hippie and sells lot of unique things.

And of course after eating and shopping, we went for massage. I HAD THE BEST MASSAGE EVER IN MY WHOLE LIFE.

At first I was quite angry at my masseur. She was young and petite but surprisingly very strong. She was literally pinching my body, at least that's how I felt. It was freaky painful and I may have or may not cursing her in my head. A few times I told her "pain, soft" but she ignored me.

Only at the end, I realized she was trying to untie my knots. I have been having some pain of my shoulder and she miraculously untie all of my knots. The massage didn't leave me sore, I always get sore muscles after massage. But this one left me feeling so refresh and light. It was the best 350 baht I've ever spent. It was a professional healing center located at Asiatique and sometimes you have to queue for your turn.

This is the amazing masseur.

Final food photo and it was our lunch at the airport before flying home.
Japanese curry.

I have to rant about Malaysian at the airport because I was so angry. When we reached the airport and going through custom check, a guy in normal clothes with an I-don't-know-what-ID badge jumped in my way and said "Malaysia Police, open your bag."

I was like huh? His tone was so rude and annoying. I understand that is his job to check any suspicious person whom maybe smuggling drugs but at least show your Malaysian good attitude and politeness.

Like "Excuse me, miss. I'm Malaysia Police and can you step aside? I need to check your bag" And after that maybe help me carry me bag to the side because it was freaking heavy?

He rummaged through my bag and found nothing except for maybe dirty underwear and bras. I was kidding.

Really spoiled my mood upon coming back to my own country. Ok, rant over and it was still a great holiday for me.

And now I need another holiday. Counting down to 2 and a half weeks for another holiday. Hehehe

Bangkok Girly Trip Part 1

My Bangkok trip this time is all about shopping and food plus good massages too. It was so impromptu that we booked our flight for this 3 months ago. But as the date for our holiday drew closer, Thailand was in chaos with all the protests and Thai coup curfew. My dad was against my wish to go and we almost cancelled the whole trip.

Lucky we didn't because it was absolutely safe there, or at Bangkok at least. The media really know how to blow up their news and make everything 10 times worse than it is. I have been closely following up on the news about Thailand and everyone who went there during the period said it is completely safe.

Anyway, back to my trip. Behold yourself and don't read if you're hungry because it is all food porn. LOL

For this trip we stayed at Hotel Vista Express which located at Soi 19 Pratunam, The hotel was clean and quiet but the location is too secluded. It is located at an alley which only accessible by foot or vehicles coming from the other side because it is a one way street. But it is still okay for us la since taxis are abundant and cheap in Bangkok.

On our first night, we had our dinner at this stall in Chinatown.

It is very popular apparently and located just by the road side. And it has a very long queue. Lucky us got seats after 20 minutes or so.

Tom yam gong. Yummy-ness in a bowl. But it is smaller that I've expected.

A spicy steam fish but I really hate the parsley(is it) on top of it.

Sorry, half eaten food because we were starving. We had crabmeat, squids in salty egg, tofu, morning glory, fried egg and cockles. Basically everything seafood la but the bills was very cheap. Only 100++ Baht for 6 persons.

All of us! Patchy and Maple are Sara's friends and so friendly and nice.

Told ya it was a long queue.

One more photo of the food from my phone because it was so delicious.

With Sara, the mastermind of this trip. She did all the research about where to eat and which restaurants we must visit.

After dinner we went to Sixcret (?) for drinks. Can't really remember the name of the place because I was beyond sleepy after dinner. I woke up at 6 in the morning that day because of our early flight.

Sara's photography skill lolololo

My skill hahahahha

Day 2! Ready to eat and shop.

For lunch we head over to Koreatown to try Doorae  since it is highly rated by everyone.

The pork is sooooo gooodddd!

All ready to dig in

More and more dishes coming in.

We really over ordered but the bill quite okay leh.

Can't finish it all
Here's the address if you guys keen:

Address: 12 Thanon Sukhumvit, แขวง คลองเตย เขต คลองเตย กรุงเทพมหานคร 10110, Thailand
Just google translate if you want to know in English but if not, just show this to your taxi driver, they sure know where it is.

Next is dessert time at Mango Tango.

They have this rule where the minimum order must be 3 so we all just share all the 3 desserts. We had mango sticky rice, mango pudding and something mango sago, I can't recall the name.

True to its fame, our desserts are all delicious.

After stuffing ourselves, it's time to hit Siam Paragon. Shopping time but I didn't bought much, I even left Forever 21 empty handed. Don't know is it me growing old or my taste has changed, nothing really caught my eyes this time. However I still got some great haul from Bangkok.

During one of my many fitting room session. Got bored because none of the tops fit me well so I took selfie instead.

Massage after shopping. It felt so good to have people massage your feet after walking whole day.

Did I warned you that this trip was all about food for me?

So, we went to After You after massage for tea break. As always After You was packed and we waited around half an hour for our seats.

We girls being girls. Everyone wiped out their phone when our food came. Hehehhee I love people whom share the same passion with me.

The real reason we're here, Shibuya Honey Toast. It still taste the same and so good. The toast is so soft in the inside and mix it with honey, one word: perfect!

Sorry yu fen, this is our one and only group photo. See people outside the cafe, those were still waiting for their turn.

That's all for Part 1 of my Bangkok trip now. Will continue soon.

Bangkok Part 5 - Pattaya

This will be my last installment for my Bangkok trip back in December. For previous posts click here:

We went to Pattaya for 2 days 1 night just to chillax. Turnout, our chillaxing trip ended up a bit adventurous. We been on a taxi, bus and motorcycle to reach our hotel, Dusit Thani in Pattaya. Never in my life I would imagine myself being fetched on a motorcycle without a helmet with two others on the same motorcycle (with Sara and the driver(?)) bustling through the busy street of Pattaya, one hand grabbing my bag and the other had grabbing anything that I could to save my life including the driver shirt and being dropped off in front of our 5 star hotel.

No wonder the valet is not interested to serve us after our glamorous ride. Pffft

Complimentary drink while checking in.

The spacious hotel lobby

View from our balcony

Our hotel is actually located right next to the sea.

And the best part is our hotel has infinity pool but we didn't have time to check it out.
We only swam awhile at the swimming pool (the one that we could see from our balcony), basically to test out our bikinis that we bought at Chatuchak Market :p

Twinsie!

Yeah, just pictures of me and Miao because miss Sara was busy somewhere on the phone :p After we were done exploring our room, we freshen up and went for lunch and sight seeing. The weather was scorching hot and the beach area was filled with tourists sunbathing. Us being the Asian, were trying to stay under the shade as much as possible.

I think this is the only shopping mall there. It called Central something if I'm not mistaken.

We hit the food court first as we were all starving after the 2 hours ++ journey from Bangkok. Sick of having too much meat on our meals recently, we opted for more veggies for lunch. It was delicious as always. Seriously, Bangkok is more than a shopping heaven for me, it's a food heaven too!

Next thing after we done filling our tummy, we went shopping. First stop, Topshop. Various stores such as Armani Exchange, Topshop, Zara and so on were having their year end sale. But we didn't not managed to grab anything for ourselves tho, just some gifts for family.

Miao and I were having a little outfit shots while waiting for Sara in the changing room. I tried on a pair of studded short in one of the stores but didn't buy it. Too expensive :( While in Bangkok/Pattaya, one must try out their Thai massage. We tried the Thai massage after shopping and a foot massage after dinner. Both only for 300/200 Baht each. It was amazing.

Night view from our balcony

At night, we went for seafood dinner at The Walking Street.

There was nothing much for us to see/explore at The Walking Street as it was quite dangerous for 3 girls to walk around in a street filled with strip clubs. We saw lots and lots of characters of strippers but didn't went in to any of the clubs. Well, it is probably the heaven for guys, but not for us.

Next day, checked out.

We went to the Central again for lunch the next day before leaving Pattaya. This time we chose steamboat and went for MK Restaurant. It was Thai father's day that day, everyone were wearing yellow shirts and out having lunch with their families.

Just a simple but filling meal.

We took the van back to Bangkok and slept the whole 2 hours ride. Reached Bangkok around 7 something which is Bangkok traffic jam prime time. To avoid the heavy traffic, we decided to go dinner at Eat Am Are. I know, the name is weird but the steaks are good, just as they claimed!

I'm exhausted

While these two still energetic enough to camwhore

When I say food in Bangkok is heaven, I was dead serious. For my one week stay there, I have never had a disappointed meals. My favorite will definitely the salted egg squirt at W Restaurant and the green curry powder squirt at the diner near Sara's apartment.

I'm so in love with their food that I grabbed quite a handful of the food spices home. I did tried to cook the green curry once but failed. :( I still miss Thai authentic tom yam soup.

The day before we leaving Bangkok, we had lunch at the diner near Sara's apartment again. Just to have another foodgasm. Seriously, I wanna go back to Bangkok just to have their food again.

Taken before boarding our flight home.

I shall be back again, Bangkok!
For your food and shopping experience!
