Phnom Penh Central Market

Since our flight to Phnom Penh was early in the morning, 7 something to be exact *gasp* we reached around half past 9 local time in Cambodia. My first impression of Cambodia was dry and dusty, I kid you not. From the plane, the view that greeted me was yellowish grass and dust.

March is dry season for Cambodia so it is expected to be very humid and hot. On some days the temperature reached 35 degrees Celcius. After settling in at our hotel, the Royal Inn, we ventured out with tuk tuk to Central Market for lunch.

They sell everything at the Central Market from street food, fruits, seafood, clothing, jewelries, watch and your daily life stuff like shampoo, makeup and so on. Basically, it's a giant market that sell everything that you need. As for the price, feel free to bargain for everything except food.

This mini donuts and balls were delicious. It cost 1-2 US dollar.

This spring rolls are the bomb too but too bad they add 臭菜 in it.

They sell so many fresh flowers and some are very beautiful. I was really tempted to buy one but quickly brushed aside the idea as what would I do with it and it is a hassle to bring around. The Central Market tend to be very packed and don't get offended if people are pushing you to get their way.

Just a reminder though, be careful with your belongings. It is always a good idea to be alert.

We settled our lunch with street food and fresh coconut to freshen up on the hot day.

Since we all were lack of sleep from the early flight, we went back to the hotel to nap for the afternoon. It is the best feeling ever to sleep in an air conditioned room when the temperature outside was at its peak.

Will write more about our adventure at Phnom Penh soon.
